ERIC McCLYMONT (right) had the pleasure and privilege of meeting JIMMY ADAMS, former West Indies cricket captain and ubiquitous and respected coach and technical director recently at Lord’s and shares his views with readers of Caribcommx.

“I asked Jimmy what the issue was with the lack of preparation for the 2024 Test series. Jimmy seemed clearly to lay the blame at the feet of the CWI in that they didn’t request warm-up games for the tourists. Between us I feel that he was pushed out of his role as Technical Director for West Indies Cricket. Jimmy is qualified in that he can coach county and Test sides and has the experience.

However he was replaced by Miles Bascombe who has never represented West Indies and has inferior qualifications compared to Adams, for whom, I believe, coaching the Jersey Islands is a stop-gap. He is not getting the opportunities with CWI and, sadly, the Jamaica Cricket Association.

Jimmy told me he is available and will be in Jamaica for the Sri Lanka white-ball series in Kingston. As always he was warm, friendly and kind to spend some with – and working for Jersey Cricket, he remains a true ambassador for the game”.
