ELIZABETH DONALDSON – “I THINK MY AGE WILL MAKE ME STAND OUT”

Elizabeth- representing Jamaica

Elizabeth Donaldson is our first declared contestant in the upcoming 28th Miss Caribbean & Commonwealth pageant, and she is unique in being the oldest entrant in a contest which has broken barriers in so many ways. She first heard about the title three years ago on a Google search for contests which accommodated older entrants, and may have been inspired by Rochelle Allen, then 52 years old, breaking through to become Deputy Miss Caribbean & Commonwealth.

“I think my age, being 57 and the oldest in this pageant, will make me stand out from the other contestants” she said.

Something particular that she would hope to bring to this title, is that “pageants aren’t just about younger and stereotypical features. There are a lot of pageants already out there with these typical features. Mature women are more modern and trendier today and should be given the opportunity to feel and be accepted, rather than old, because of a number attached to our birth certificate”.  She has previously entered Miss Elegance UK 50 Plus in 2023 and received second place for People’s Choice.  This pageant also helped her gain a bit more self-confidence and met some great people.

Elizabeth, who now lives in London and attended the College of North London and the University of Essex, was born in Kingston, Jamaica and is mother to three sons and a daughter (with an age range of 14 to 31 years old). She is proud to be representing the island of her birth because her natural roots are there. She told us: “I currently run a small event decorations business, and I absolutely love what I do. I enjoy every element of it—from paying great attention to detail to seeing the pride and appreciation on my clients’ faces”. Her hobbies include listening to music, dancing, watching movies, and chillaxing with my kids.

She concluded by thanking the contest founder (Clayton Goodwin – our editor) for giving ladies the opportunity to have a platform to try and make a difference in areas that are dear to them, and truly appreciated the valued time and effort he has put into this pageant over the decades.

Thank you Elizabeth.
