When Hopelyn and myself started to plan the events of this summer, we found that we were working on three different celebrations that could clash. The most significant was Hopelyn’s 80th birthday, and so we decided to build this occasion around that landmark. To that we added recognition of the friends and neighbours on Holsmdale Grove where we have lived happily for 50 years and a tribute to representatives of significant aspects of my professional life of full-time writing.
We have set out here the relevant details of the celebration – which is in the style of the birthday, wedding etc garden/village parties we used to have before Covid intervened – and a plan of the car-parking arrangements. The tea-party celebrating the 80th birthday of Hopelyn Goodwin, wife of the founder of Caribcommx, and also the 50th anniversary of her husband, (Ian) Clayton Goodwin, being established as a full-time writer and writer will be held at Club 151, Bexley Broadway, DA6 7EZ from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday 30th May 2026
ENTRY IS STRICTLY BY INVITATION ONLY
Car-parking accommodation is located by way of Albion Road to the rear of the venue.
Pedestrians will be able to gain access from the passage-way through the buildings shown in the photograph. Nearest train stations are Barnehurst, Bexleyheath, or Bexley, and a short bus journey.
